Programs
World Relief provides a variety of direct services to refugee and immigrant families. World Relief Minnesota, in partnership with local churches, has been working since 1988 to welcome the persecuted people of the world who have come to Minnesota to begin a new life of freedom and safety with their families.

The U.S. government and state agencies mandate services that must be provided to refugees as they arrive in the U.S. World Relief Minnesota, as an affiliate of World Relief, provides the following services to refugee families during the first year after they arrive in Minnesota:
• Reception and Placement – pickup at the airport, orientation, arrange initial housing, furniture, clothing and food
• Employment Services – job search assistance, interview preparation, access to some vocational training programs
• Referrals to other social services
• Cash Assistance for up to eight months as refugees seek employment
• Legal Services related to immigration and citizenship
• Citizenship Classes

Story
A story about a refugee family will be added soon.

Church Engagement
World Relief believes that local church congregations offer the best context for working with the poor in overcoming their lack of opportunity and offering hope and life. We believe showing suffering people that Christians care and that the Church wants to make a lasting impact on their lives is a powerful expression of our faith and love for God. World Relief empowers, equips and strengthens churches to serve their communities, enabling them to act as beacons of hope to people and to spread the life-changing power of Jesus Christ. We desire to work through Church-centered initiatives to tackle entrenched and intertwined problems of poverty and cultural isolation. From this context of help through community people experience transformation in their lives, in their families, and in the broader society.

Currently World Relief Minnesota is partnering with a number of churches and their volunteers to:
• Teach English to immigrants (SALT)
• Build on-going relationships between Somali immigrants and American families (Rajo)
• Provide housing assistance for one year for a refugee family that is sponsored and cared for by a church small group (Refugee Life Ministries)
• Donation of furniture and clothing as part of Welcome Kits for new refugees
