Mission Statement Habitat for Humanity-Winona County is a non-profit, ecumenical grassroots Christian ministry. Its primary goal is to eliminate sub-standard housing and homelessness by partnering with community members to construct simple, decent and affordable homes. To help achieve that goal, Habitat for Humanity-Winona County also operates the Habitat ReStore which provides all community members the opportunity to improve their current living conditions affordably by purchasing discounted building materials and home furnishings. Houses are not given to anyone. Habitat builds houses with people in need then sells the houses to homeowner partners through no-profit loans. Habitat houses are not extravagant by any standard. Habitat’s philosophy is to build simple, decent houses.

Habitat helps people with a hand up (not a hand out) as they help them build an affordable, safe home, and teaches families the skills they need to sustain homeownership and stability.
