WHITE BEAR LAKE EMERGENCY FOOD SHELF
Your donation puts food on the table for people experiencing unexpected emergencies.
The White Bear Area Emergency Food Shelf is there for those who live in White Bear Lake School District No. 624 who do not have the resources necessary to weather unexpected emergencies such as the loss of a job, an illness, or the death of the primary wage earner. We provide seven days of food and a certificate to purchase dairy products, fresh produce, and meat. We also have a special program to provide groceries at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
During this last year at the White Bear Area Emergency Food Shelf: • 308 families were served each month, on average. • 11,385 individuals were served • 200,879 meals were provided. • 256,477 pounds of food were distributed. • $112,440 in cash certificates were distributed to purchase perishable food.
The Food Shelf is supported by donations of food and cash from individuals, businesses, schools, churches. associations and other community groups. In addition, more than 70 people volunteer their time to be sure that food is stocked and ready for distribution to families five days a week. As a result, administrative costs are low; 93 cents of every dollar donated provides food that goes directly to those in need.
Food donations are accepted at the Food Shelf Monday through Friday 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM. For further information or to volunteer, contact Ann Searles at (651) 407-5310.
