West Broadway Business and Area Coalition - Give to the Max

When you become a member of the WBC you are supporting an organization whose work is designed to create a more inviting atmosphere and positive image for North Minneapolis.

Some of this work includes:

• Operating a highly successful Façade Improvement Program that awarded nearly $190,000 to 26 businesses for improvements to their storefronts 2009-2010 and has secured an additional $236,000 for 2011–2012 (example above).

• Creating and operating the new West Broadway Farmers Market which has increased access to healthy foods, provided economic development opportunities and a safe community gathering space.

• Advocacy on public policy, planning, and projects aimed at improving the corridor which, among other things, has resulted in the development of the West Broadway Alive Plan for the corridor and the decision by the Minneapolis Public Schools to build their new headquarters on the avenue.

• Engaging in various efforts to improve safety and security in the West Broadway Area which, combined with a range of efforts by other organizations, contributed to a 20% drop in crime in 2010 as compared to 2009.

• Promoting and assisting in the organization of events like FLOW and the Fall and Spring Clean-ups.

In 2012 the West Broadway Coalition will be maintaining these efforts and much much more!
