WCF Key Initiatives

All proceeds from this year’s Soiree Spooktakular will go back into the Woodbury community for areas of need including: Youth, Jobs, Housing, and Food . We are focused on serious initiatives that have significant impact on our community. The WCF is dedicated to being a contributor, a communicator, a catalyst and a convener for the present and future of Woodbury.

Your money will have an impact! It is making a difference through these action-oriented, local, results-driven initiatives:

WCF’s Key Initiatives:

· YOUTH – working to support youth who are missing activity participation due to the current economy; building partnerships within the community are developing as we continue to seek out solutions for community issues in this area

o Key Partners: City of Woodbury Parks and Recreation , City of Woodbury Public Safety, Southeast Area YMCA , local athletic associations , local youth pastors , Woodbury Arts Connection , & Community Education

· JOBS – seeking out ways to partner with key stakeholders in the community to assist with job loss & job creation; purpose is to bring together/inspire collaboration amongst the organizations that are currently successful in their own rights to help those in need.

o Key Partners: Washington County Workforce Center , Globe University , several large employers , local churches , employment agencies , higher education

· HOUSING – working to preserve homeownership by helping low-income homeowners repair and maintain their homes through the Brush with Kindness program (will kick-off in Spring 2011); assist with volunteer recruitment for their Homeownership program in Woodbury (in 2012 or 2013).

o Key Partners: Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity , City of Woodbury’s HRA

· FOOD – Needs have greatly increased in Woodbury as in many places around the country for food assistance. Our local food shelves are working to meet those needs and our goal is to help them not only feed everyone who is hungry, but further develop their own organizational structures to ensure their success into the future.

o Key Partners: Woodbury Christian Cupboard, Woodbury Lutheran Church, Guardian Angels, Valley Outreach, other local churches
