United Way of Southwest Minnesota is a local charity working to create lasting changes in people's lives and the communities it serves.

United Way of Southwest Minnesota is an autonomous, local, charitable organization working to create lasting changes in people’s lives and to build a stronger community by inspiring people to help others, increasing resources to meet critical community needs, and fostering innovative solutions to problems within Lyon, Lincoln, Murray, Yellow Medicine and western Redwood Counties of Minnesota.

The organization is led by a diverse group of volunteers from business, government, human services, education and the community. United Way provides opportunities to be involved with and invest in the community to advance the common good. Our focus is on education, income and health with an emphasis on being united against hunger and promoting safety and well-being. United Way recruits people and organizations who bring the passion, expertise and resources needed to get things done. We invite you to be a part of the change. You can give, you can advocate and you can volunteer.

The United Way Success By 6 early childhood initiative works collaboratively to build literacy and school readiness in young children. Putting books from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Progam into the hands of children and equiping parents/caregivers to promote early literacy are key components. Other features include school readiness kits for all children starting kindergarten; mobile learning programs, parenting education workshops, regular newsletters, and more.
