Prairie Star District Unitarian Universalist merged with two other districts to become MidAmerica Region of the UUA in July 2013.
As you know, change has been moving at a rapid pace in the past few months in our local UU world. Since the delegates voted to dissolve Central Midwest, Heartland, and Prairie Star Districts, we’ve created the new MidAmerica Region. New systems for everything from banking to ministerial transitions are in place, and service to congregations continues without interruption. In the fall of 2013 Nancy Heege, Phil Lund, and the other four Congregational Life Consultants were “crossing over borders” into each other’s districts to start getting acquainted with congregations they haven’t worked with previously. The contributions you and others have made to Friends of the Prairie Star District in the past few years have been invaluable in creating the strong foundation from which we are expanding into the new region.
Requests for services, consulting, coaching, and leadership development continue to roll in from congregations. In just the past few days, we’ve fielded calls about stewardship, about how to keep congregation members informed, about moving forward with a capital campaign, about conflict, about youth and young adults, and more. Our webinar on “Leading Congregations in Times of Anxiety” was fully subscribed with participants from all over the region, and more people have been accessing the archived version online since then. Planning is well underway for the Regional Assembly in April, being held in four locations across the region including Topeka and Wausau, Wisconsin.
While contributions from congregations for their Regional Fair Share support the majority of our expenses, your financial gift will make it possible for us to continue to provide the level of service our congregations have come to depend on. Suppport MidAmerica Region by making a tax deductible gift to Friends of MAR.
