Annabelle is 93 and lives alone in an apartment building that has changed much in the 15 years she has lived there. She has some vision loss and called Meals on Wheels to begin receiving their meals. MOW staff went out to meet with her and realized that she had no support system and no relatives in the state. She was essentially living in total isolation. The Parish Nurse went with the MOW staff person to meet her. She arranged for groceries to be delivered by a volunteer. One of the MOW drivers changed her light bulbs and installed new blinds. The Parish Nurse began visiting. The MOW on Wheels drivers now take out her garbage and check on what she needs. She has gained weight (a good thing). A large step was allowing the Parish Nurse to take her to the doctor for the first time in ten years. Annabelle now has a community supporting her. TRUST has become her community.
That is just one of the hundreds of stories about our services. Last year, TRUST provided:
• 28,922 hot noon meals delivered to homebound people by 342 drivers
• 3,541 chore services for 318 clients to help them stay in their homes
• 1,608 hours of parish nurse visiting and phone calls
• 390 flu shots at 12 congregational sites
• 23 estate sales for people in transition
• Loaves and Fishes dinners for the homeless six times during the year
• over 1,000 counseling sessions through TRUST Family Center at Judson
• 167 prayers shawls offering comfort through the Prayer Shawl Ministry
• youth leadership & service projects including a mission trip
• a two week build for Habitat for Humanity
• tutoring at Richard Green School
• three ten-week grief support groups
• pet food delivered to 49 dogs and cats living with TRUST clients
• 376 Christmas gifts for residents at Redeemer Residence & TRUST clients
• 828 people attending 20 Mondays of CoAM’s Life Enrichment classes
• 1,138 round trips for people getting groceries
• 47 people attending CoAM’s three day tours.
