HELLO and welcome to my fundraising page for ARENA Dances.

As you may (or may not) know, I have been involved with ARENA for almost three years now serving on the board as Treasurer. I was convinced to join the ARENA board by friends who were serving on the board at the time.

Prior to joining the board I had little exposure to modern dance and my awareness of the Minneapolis arts scene was limited to the major institutions (Walker, MIA, Orchestra Hall, etc.). After signing on, I attended my first modern dance performance and completely changed the preconceived notions I had about modern dance. In a word, it was fantastic. The work created by Mathew Janczewski is great and something that can be appreciated by both the experienced modern dance enthusiast and novices such as myself.

I also became aware of the massive arts scene in Minneapolis that exists outside of the aforementioned large institutions. Being Treasurer I learned about the challenge that these smaller arts institutions have in raising needed funds, hence the Board fundraising drive for our upcoming performance Matador. Please consider contributing any amount. Your contribution will support an amazing company of dancers, studio rental for rehearsals, advertising and marketing costs, costumes designed by Sonya Berlovitz, and other production efforts such as lighting design by Jeff Bartlett.
