The Cedar is special. What other city has a music venue that presents artists like we do and operates as a non-profit? This means we choose our programs based on what drives our mission of promoting inter-cultural appreciation, and not on profitablilty. This allows us to host interesting artists that wouldn't normally visit the Twin Cities, give away concert tickets to community groups, engage K-12 students in educational programs, and support other organizations by hosting benefits and gatherings.

At The Cedar, we're grateful for our community everyday. Without our volunteers, artists, donors, and audience members that help make our venue the special place it is, we couldn't be here. This year, we were honored with some awards that tell us that we're special to you, too. In April we won About.com's Reader's Choice Award for Best Music Venue competing against organizations in London, Berkeley, Brooklyn, and Chicago; The Current's blog named us best All-Ages Music Venue, and we most recently won Best Venue in the Twin Cities by Minnesota Monthly's annual Best of the Cities Awards. Bringing you the world's music is what we do, and we do it with love.

Thanks to our supporters on this year's Give to the Max Day! The Cedar raised $26,972 from 458 donors during the 24-hour fund drive. We placed 71st out of all nonprofits in Minnesota for dollars raised and 15th in number of donors. What’s more, The Cedar was one of only four arts organizations that placed in the top 100.

Overall, 53,339 people donated $16.3 million for more than 4,300 nonprofits and schools during the Give to the Max Day. Your support allows service organizations, schools, and arts organizations in Minnesota, including The Cedar, to thrive, thus making Minnesota a better place to live and work. THANK YOU again!
