Help outfit the St. Paul PICU with bedside chairs!
On February 24th, 2012, our son Steven was born, 9 weeks early and weighing 3lbs. 11oz. For 32 days we received outstanding care in the NICU at Children’s Hospital in St. Paul and were thrilled to be released and bring him home!
After a few short weeks at home, breathing problems brought us back to Children’s, where Steven was intubated and underwent emergency surgery. This time our home was the brand new PICU. Despite being a world-class facility (and incredibly well-built, I might add), we were troubled to find that the beds were too high to make the available chairs functional. Physically and emotionally exhausted, we spent 9 days STANDING at Steven’s bedside.
Join Nicki and me as we help parents and caregivers “Take a Seat in the St. Paul PICU”! Watching our child in intensive care was one of the most difficult things we have ever done. With your help we can make this experience more comfortable for families in the future.
