The Strange Capers creates innovative theater events in the spirit of a gift.

The Strange Capers create innovative theater events in the spirit of a gift while we empower, challenge, and promote emerging artists in the Twin Cities community. TSC has brought free outdoor theater to Minneapolis city parks since 2009. Over the past two seasons, TSC has performed for 3,000 audience members ages 3 – 83, from avid theater patrons to folks seeing a play for the very first time, and from patrons who are able to purchase tickets to arts organizations across the Twin Cities to households who have limited opportunities to experience the arts, especially in this difficult economic climate.

This July 9 - 31, celebrated Twin Cities actor Randy Reyes and Eric Powell Holm will direct free performances of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night in Minneapolis’ Powderhorn Park.

Shipwrecked off the coast of Illyria, twins end up in the world of a lovesick duke, a grieving countess and her raucous court. All the while mistaken identity, comic pranks and the madness of love keep the action in motion. Original music by Eric Mayson and an unexpected ending will surely enchant audiences of this family-friendly production.

Twelfth Night will draw its inspiration from Powderhorn Park and be brought to life over the four weekends by a cast of nine local theater artists, including current and former University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program students Christian Bardin (Viola/Cesario), Alex Brightwell (Sebastian/Sir Andrew Aguecheek), Brendan Frost (Maria), H. Adam Harris (Malvolio), Suzy Kohane (Count Orsino). Also joining the company are Christopher Kehoe (Lady Olivia/Antonio), Peter Rusk (Toby), Max Wojtanowicz (Feste) and musician Eric Mayson.

I have watched Shakespeare in large theaters and in other outdoor venues, but no productions have been so purely delightful as your Midsummer and Twelfth Night. I can't wait for next year!
