I remember vividly attending my first play at SteppingStone Theatre with my children.

I remember the respect and admiration I had for children expressing their talent on a cold Sunday afternoon. My children and I were inspired by the presentation and the message of the production. Being relatively new to the Twin Cities, I wanted to learn more about the Theatre, and how I could get my own children involved.

As I learned more about SteppingStone, I realized that the play we saw was only the beginning – that I hadn’t just seen a wonderful play.

What we saw that day was art impacting life . . . art helping children to build self-esteem, confidence, and a sense of community.

I learned that some children were natural talents, and others were trying and developing a talent they never knew they had. I came to realize that those children inspired me in a way that changed me, and placed me on a path to join the SteppingStone Board in support of the Theatre’s efforts.

SteppingStone’s true gift is its commitment to developing all children, using art to foster creativity and self-confidence.

But teaching our children and the community about history, literature, and diverse cultures requires support from all of us.
