March is MN Food Share month! Help us reach our goal of 100,000 in pounds and dollars this month as we receive a match for these donations!

STEP responds to people in crisis who have no where to turn for help with basic needs such as food, clothing, transportation and housing.Hunger isn't something that just happens in Africa. 1 in 10 households in St. Louis Park don't have enough food.

Hunger is real and it is hurting our neighbors.

The St. Louis Park Emergency Program is working toward a hunger free community.

  • We provide food to 10 percent of the population of St. Louis Park.
  • 42 percent of the people we serve are children.
  • STEP is not only working to end hunger, but we've made a recent committment to only stocking our shelves with healthful food.
  • Each month, we have over 750 visits to our Food Shelf, each day serving up to 40 families and distributing over 2,000 pounds of food (including Kosher food).

"America is the richest country in the world. And yet tonight, thousands of your neighbors will go to bed hungry. It may be your child's schoolmate who is undernourished and has difficulty learning on an empty stomach. Or it could be a co-worker, a working mother whose low-wage job doesn't make ends meet. Perhaps it's an elderly neighbor who has to make a decision whether to delay filling a prescription or buying groceries. The faces of hunger are as broad as the faces of America."
