HORSES ARE TURNED AWAY EACH DAY DUE TO LACK OF MONEY TO FEED THEM ALL. HAY PRICES HAVE DOUBLED IN THE LAST TWO YEARS.

LITTLE SUNSHINE WAS ABOUT TO BE SHOT IN THE HEAD AND THROWN IN A HOLE BECAUSE THE WOMAN THAT OWNED HER REFUSED TO FEED HER ANYMORE. HER HUSBAND WAS OVERHEARD AT HIS JOB ASKING TO BORROW A BACK-HOE. SHE WAS ABOUT TO BE THROWN AWAY LIKE A PIECE OF GARBAGE.

SHE ENDED UP AT SUNDOWN HORSE SHELTER. 'TWO WEEKS AFTER I TOOK HER IN SHE GREW A CYST ON HER FACE...TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS LATER WITH SURGERY THE CYST WAS REMOVED (ALONG WITH TWO TEETH), SUNSHINE IS ONE OF THE SWEETEST MARES I HAVE EVER SEEN, SAID CHERIE MCKENZIE, PRESIDENT OF THE SHELTER."

IN THE BEST OF TIMES ANIMALS SUFFER, WHEN THE ECONOMY IS BAD IT'S HORRENDOUS. UNLESS A STORY ABOUT STARVING, ABUSED ANIMALS GETS IN THE NEWS, THEY ARE FORGOTTEN. IT'S A LOT LESS EXPENSIVE TO CARE FOR CATS AND DOGS, HORSES EAT A LOT! WE NEED HAY MORE THAN ANYTHING.
