STAR unpacks trauma and teaches positive alternatives to revenge. Scholarships ensure economic and cultural diversity at all STAR workshops
STAR is Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience. In Minnesota, STAR's sponsoring host is the Minnesota Peacebuilding Leadership Institute (MPLI).
The STAR workshop unpacks trauma and it's relationship to the myth of redemptive violence and teaches positive alternatives to revenge that are practical and useful for everyone.
The STAR mission is to strengthen the capacity of caregivers, leaders, and organizations to address trauma, break cycles of violence, and build resilience. The Minnesota Peacebuilding Leadership Institute (MPLI) is fulfilling this mission in Minnesota and beyond.
The 4 1/2 day academic and experiential education STAR professional development workshop integrates concepts from neurobiology, psychology, restorative justice, conflict transformation, nonviolent peacebuilding, and broadly defined spirituality that leads to understanding and healing, resilience resourcing, and the potential for personal, family, and collective reconciliation. Since its inception, in response to the events of September 11, 2011, the STAR workshop has trained over 6000 caregivers and leaders from more than 50 countries.
