SOUTH METRO HUMAN SERVICES
South Metro Human Services is a non-profit agency serving adults with mental illness and/or chemical dependence in the Twin Cities.
Thank You for Donating to South Metro Human Services!
Your contribution supports respectful treatment and provides dignified transitional housing for family members and friends who struggle with mental illness.
Each year, more than 2,500 mentally ill individuals in the metro area receive support and services from the professional, caring and compassionate staff of South Metro Human Services (SMHS). Because of our expertise in a number of evidence based mental health practices, we have become a preferred provider for the Minnesota Department of Human Services. We are also responsible for a number of programs serving low income, homeless, chemically dependent and mentall ill adults.
In the past 25 years, our Community Foundations program has provided transitional housing and support services for more than 550 individuals diagnosed with mental illness. The turn-of-the-century apartment building in St. Paul that has housed the program since its inception is old and no longer suitable to serve as an Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) facility. We believe the people we serve deserve an updated facility that is more conducive to recovery.
The good news is that we have identified a vacant property in Maplewood, which we intend to transform into a new, purpose-built home for Community Foundations. This $2.8 million renovation will provide 16 comfortable, single room dwellings, inspiring communal gathering areas and ample room for individual and group counseling.
We need your financial help to make this project happen! Your donation will support respectful treatment and dignified transitional housing so that individuals who struggle with mental illness are able to transition to a more independent and permanent housing situation.
On behalf of our staff and clients, thank you for supporting South Metro Human Services and Community Foundations.
