South Central College Faribault Campus Foundation

The South Central College Faribault Campus Foundation was founded in 1983 as the Faribault Area Vocational Technical Trust Association to promote community post-secondary education in the Faribault area. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization governed by a board of directors comprised of individuals from the area, including South Central College alumni. The Foundation raises money for scholarships through an annual fund drive led by a volunteer from the community.

Chris Nelson has been a visible and active supporter of the Faribault community for decades. Through his involvement with numerous community organizations, including as Chair of the Board of the Faribault Area Chamber of Commerce, he has worked intensely to promote education, business and tourism growth in Faribault.

Chris co-owns Nelson's Market Place in Faribault and Albert Lea and manages the Timber Lodge Steakhouse in Owatonna and a Shell station store and commercial property in Albert Lea.

Scholarship Recipients

Mother and daughter scholarship recipients Raquel and Jackie Villa share the memory of how excited they were upon finding out about their scholarship awards. Raquel received a scholarship in 2001 as a student in Office Administration & Technology at SCC. Nine years later, Jackie was awarded a scholarship at the 2010 awards ceremony to support her studies in Medical Coding.
