Sibley Bike Depot
A US registered nonprofit
SAINT PAUL,
MN
Sibley Bike Depot is an open, accessible space where people are empowered to use bikes as transportation, building sustainable communities.
Sibley Bike Depot's vision is to support community through partnerships, collaborations, and personal relationships to help foster ecologically sustainable living so that our communities may survive and thrive.
In 2009 at Sibley Bike Depot:
- *140 youth attended a Sibley Junior Mechanics class and earned a bike (the majority also received high school credit through the St. Paul Public Schools)
- *315 people attended Sibley's free bike maintenance class program
- *140 bicycles donated outright to different community programs
- *65 adults Earned-a-Bike by volunteering 10-25 hours at Sibley
- *We offered a free Open Shop to the community 20 hours per week, 700 hours for the year
- *We started the Community Partners Bike Library program, where community members can borrow a bike, fully equipped with rack, fenders, lights, and a lock, for up to six months.
- *We offered our Women's and Trans Night in the shop, where a safe place is provided for people who are typically marginalized in the bike world. No matter what your level of experience, we welcome you to come work on your own bike, help others, or volunteer time for Sibley. Experienced female mechanics will be here to help you with everything from fixing a flat to overhauling your whole bike!
As a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organization working to build a bicycling movement in the Twin Cities, we rely on acts of generosity and kindness for our organization to survive and thrive. Thank you for your interest in Sibley Bike Depot!
