Shelter Expansion Project
A project of WADENA COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY
Expanding Humane Animal Services, a safe haven for animals of domestic abuse, work opportunities for adults with challenges, and much more.
We wish to thank all who have donated directly.
This project has been pushed into the future after past tornado & storm damage expenses that were not fully covered by insurance.
The Wadena County Humane Society needs to expand the animal shelter facility. This project is about much more than just an animal shelter. The animal shelter facility is more than just a simple place to house animals. The shelter is a place of employment in our community, a place of aid and assistance to law enforcement in service to the community, a place to bring lost pets, a place to find lost pets, a safe place for families in life changing events to surrender their family pet, a place to adopt a new family companion, an emergency safe haven for a family pet escaping domestic abuse, a place for adults with challenges to work and contribute, a place of education through classes in animal training and socialization along with community education programs, a place of compassion and giving for both animals and people when all has been taken such as happened during this past summers tornadoes, a place to receive emergency pet food assistance from the food shelf for pets program. The animal shelter is more than just a place for animals, it is a place of importance and support for the community. A community larger than just Wadena County. In order to serve the demand for Humane Animal Services in our Central Minnesota Region, the Wadena County Humane Society needs to expand. We need the help from the larger community of Minnesota to expand our services to Central Minnesota.
The Wadena County Humane Society has a successful history of community service and support. This shelter and services have been built one volunteer, one garage sale, one fundraising dinner, one dog walk, one t-shirt or candy sale and one donor at a time. Through these small donations, an animal shelter was built. This small animal shelter continues to grow, but help is necessary to meet the needs of this community. The Wadena County Humane Society will continue to offer services, support, education, humane animal sheltering and adoption services, employment opportunities and programs, community service options for community service sentences, and assistance to both animals and people in need. As the needs of the community grow, so must the shelter. The Wadena County Humane Society is more than just animals, the humane society is about people too. Please Help the Humane Society build for a greater future, please donate to the Shelter Expansion Project.
