The Shakespeare Project

The mission of the Shakespeare Project is:

• to improve the reading and writing skills of GED students
• to challenge and engage students and volunteers by taking a multicultural look at Shakespeare
• to build confidence and community through a classic

We know that our GED students are capable of so much more than they are often given credit for. The Shakespeare Project aims to prove this by giving students an opportunity to read and discuss a classic piece of literature. These students are eager to learn and become acquainted with upper-level material. Given the chance, they can expand their vocabularies, learn key critical reading skills and improve their essay writing. The Shakespeare Project also aims to provide a reading that will allow community members to see first-hand the amazing potential of GED students and, hopefully, to experience Shakespeare in a new way.
