Our donors' gifts make it possible for Semcac to help people change their lives, create hope for the future, and improve our communities.
Semcac's mission is to assist people with achieving or maintaining their independence and self-reliance through their own and community resources. As a Community Action Agency, Semcac's goal is to fight the "War on Poverty" by providing programs and services for individuals and families struggling to make ends meet. We create a bridge of caring and compassion in order to move people from crisis situations to economic stability. Semcac provides programs and services in Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha and Winona counties in southeastern Minnesota. In 2010, Semcac touched the lives of over 32,000 people in southeastern Minnesota through these programs: *Head Start *Energy Assistance *Weatherization *Housing Rehab Loan Programs *Affordable Housing Development & Management *Homeless Prevention and Assistance *Food Shelves *Outreach Services and Crisis Assistance *Semcac Clinic for Family Planning & STI services *Senior & Caregiver Advocacy *Retired & Senior Volunteer Program *Senior Congregate Dining *Meals on Wheels *Public Transit Bus Service *Volunteer Driver Program
