Mission

Search Institute provides leadership, knowledge and resources to promote healthy children, youth and communities.

Programs

The Research & Evaluation group conducts applied scientific work on positive child and adolescent development to strengthen the scientific underpinings of the developmental assets framework. Additionally, the group studies how communities attend to young people's developmental needs. The Publication & Communication group is responsible for developing and marketing tools and resources that communicate Search Institute's research findings and offer ideas and strategies for building assets. The goal is to lead a publishing and communication agenda to broaden and deepen application of asset building and community mobilization. The National Initiatives group is the hub of Search Institute's Healthy Communities * Healthy Youth initiative. The group supports state networks, communities, organizations, and individuals engaged in asset building. It works to develop partnerships with other organizations and coordinates Healthy Communities * Healthy Youth work among various groups within the institute. Its annual conference, held each November is a powerful, intergenerational learning and sharing event. The Training and Consulting group concentrates its energies to provide extensive training through its network for communities and organizations interested in building developmental assets and mobilizing communities and schools around the asset framework. The group works closely with the Research and Evaluation, National Initiatives and Publishing and Communication groups.
