CAP assists and empowers individuals and families to achieve social and economic well-being.

Community Action Partnership of Scott Carver Dakota counties (CAP) is a leading nonprofit organization, that takes a comprehensive, lean-forward approach to advocating and empowering self-sufficiency for our neighbors. We are driven to deliver individualized solutions through relevant, innovative local pro- grams and partnerships that better connect our neighbors with resources they need to move forward and measurably strengthen the communities we serve.

We offer 26 programs and services to individuals of all ages living in Scott, Carver and Dakota counties. These include:

Education
Our agency provides programs to close the achievement gap on education for young children and their families. These include:

  • Head Start
  • Early Head Start

Energy Programs
These programs assist individuals and families in heating their homes and ensuring they are as energy efficient as possible. They include:

  • Weatherization
  • Energy Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Conservation Improvement Program (CIP)
  • Energy Related Repair (ERR)

Housing

Our housing programs provide safe, stable, and affordable housing to individuals and families. Our programs include:

  • Emergency shelter to prevent homelessness
  • Transitional housing for homeless families
  • Permanent supportive housing
  • Mainstream Section 8 for persons with disabilities.

Our housing program clients receive comprehensive supportive services to ensure stability, security, and long-term self-sufficiency.

Family Services
These programs ensure that children never go without the care they deserve by providing childcare services and education to parents. They include:

  • Childcare Resources & Referral (CCR&R)
  • Crisis Nursery
  • Carver & Dakota Healthy Families

Food & Nutrition
These programs ensure that all individuals and families have access to healthy food that supports good nutrition. They include:

  • Food Shelf
  • Food Support Outreach
  • Women, Infants & Children (WIC)

Senior Services
These programs are provided to individuals 60+ and offer nutrition and home and yard maintenance services. They include:

  • Chore
  • Senior Nutrition
  • Meals on Wheels

Community Services
These services provide individuals and families with assistance when it is most needed. Community services include:

  • Hope for the Holidays
  • Backpack Distribution
  • Toy Distribution
  • Thrift Shop
