Ruth’s House of Hope

Family violence occurs in 1 of 4 American homes. You can do something to change that! Right in your back yard is Ruth’s House, an emergency and transitional home for women and children who are breaking free from traumatic situations. Ruth’s House is a non-profit organization that provides a safe loving home that offers an opportunity for families to be nutured, heal, grow and transition to a new healthier life. Every year Ruth’s House provides approximately 7,000 nights of safe housing, food, resources, faith and hope to those who find themselves trapped. You can help by partnering with us today! She came to the door with two children and a Wal-Mart bag half filled with papers. Her face tear streaked, she shares that she fled her home due to domestic violence. She is fearful for her safety and that of her children. She cries as she announces she has nothing, no clothes or anything else. All she has is carried in that Wal-Mart plastic bag. Her children come with the clothes on their back.

Ruth’s House offers her refuge from the world she has come. To her it is a chance to begin healing from the oppressive nature of domestic violence. When she goes back to her home with law enforcement to gather clothing for the children and herself, she finds it all gone. Ruth’s House is able to provide her with the basic necessities. At one point, several months later, the son shares that “when we came we had nothing, now I don’t know where to put all the clothes.”

This woman found a safe place for her to begin rebuilding her life. She worked on taking care of her self and her children. By being given the opportunity to heal emotionally, mentally, and spiritually she was able to rebuild her foundation. She made the decision to move closer to her family to have additional support of family. She left thankful for the opportunity to stay at Ruth’s House. This family credits Ruth’s House with being able to rebuild their lives and being “ok”.
