Our Mission
The Red Wing Area Fund’s mission is to continue and extend the character and quality of community life in the Red Wing area. To realize this objective, we initiate projects, appraise ideas, plans and projects brought forth by individuals, groups and organizations.
Red Wing Area Fund is responsive to the changing needs and opportunities of our community. We manage resources in such a way that so that we will always be able to participate, in a lead or contributory role, in community projects of major significance.
The Red Wing Area Fund, a component of The Saint Paul Foundation, was created to promote, accept and administer charitable contributions to help meet the needs of the Red Wing area and its citizens. The fund is advised by a diverse group of local citizens. It provides individuals and organizations interested in the Red Wing area with a opportunity to make tax deductible contributions to benefit the Red Wing community.
Impact
The Red Wing Area Fund started in 1980 and has granted over $11 million dollars since inception.
Red Wing Area Fund initiated projects including:
· Renovation of the T.B. Sheldon Theatre
· Renovation of the Milwaukee Road Depot
· Conservation of Trenton Island
· Downtown Preservation Project
· Levee Park Plan
· Chautauqua with the American Wind Symphony Orchestra
It also participated in projects including:
· Colville Park Aquatic Center
· Colville Park Universal Playground
· Red Wing Family Y
· Prairie Island Ice Arena
· The Grand Excursion
· Anderson Center for Interdisciplinary Studies
· Cannon Valley Trail
· Goodhue County Historical Museum
· Skateboard Park
