RAINBOW RUMPUS
A US registered nonprofit
Nine million children and teens with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender parents live in the United States. Sadly, these young people find very few images of their lives and families reflected in books and other media, which can lead to a tremendous sense of isolation. For example, there are only 40 picture books in print with any mention of LGBT headed families. This lack of media also deprives LGBT parents of the important resources they need to support their kids in an often hostile world.
Rainbow Rumpus is changing this picture. Rainbow Rumpus—www.rainbowrumpus.org—is the world’s only Web magazine that creates on-line media reflecting the lives of youth with LGBT parents, helping to end the isolation these kids experience and inspiring people to make LGBT-headed families welcome everywhere.
Rainbow Rumpus provides:

In support of the literary passions of Ms. Deborah O' Carver. Because it is expression and imagination that binds us together, yet allows us to feel free.

I made a donation to Rainbow Rumpus: the magazine for kids of LGBT-headed households. Not only is this an incredible resource for families but it also is the largest publisher of this type of literature! I love this org!

This is a terrific organization, helping to connect the children of LGBT families online. With Rainbow Rumpus, these kids have a place to go where they can feel validated and understood, have some fun, and connect with other kids and families like themselves. (And besides, my daughter is an editor here - not that that has anything to do with it, of course!).
