Provide joy, peace, and safety to children affected by domestic violence

This past summer I had the good fortune to work as a volunteer captain on a fishing excursion that involved kids from 360 Communities shelters. It was pure joy to see the excitement, enthusiasm, and delight of the kids as they experienced their first boat ride, then reeled in what was for some, their first fish. Only one little girl would touch the worms and she ended up trying to get them to play with each other. It finally dawned on me that there were kids like this in shelters that needed to have experiences to look forward to, that needed help and guidance with school work that their parent may not be able to provide, and that I could be a positive male role model in their life.

Today I volunteer at 360 Communities to tutor kids and provide periodic activities for the kids. 360 Communities met my interest in building a stronger community with enthusiastic support as well as suggestions for further involvement with helping clients who were interested in pursuing their GED.

360 Communities has provided me with the means of contributing to other’s well being as my family was helped so many years ago.

360 Communities provides spouses and children with physical protection, emotional support, personalized guidance and education, and material goods that ultimately enable the creation of a safe return to a normal life. A very important role 360 Communities plays in the community is to educate people about family abuse and prevention and make known the presence of an escape route for those who feel trapped in an abusive relationship.
