Pro-Choice Resources is truly unique.

We choose the freedom to shape our programming around our community’s needs, which is why we are not an affiliate of any national organization. We do not receive any United Way or government funding. Rather, we rely on the generous support of foundations and dedicated individuals, like you, to support our one-of-a-kind programs.

We are a small organization (just six staff and lots of interns and volunteers) that has worked for over 45 years to knock down sexual health barriers. We serve over 25,000 women and youth around the nation each year through our innovative and groundbreaking programming.

How unique are we?

You don’t have a choice if you can’t afford an abortion – through the Hersey Abortion Assistance Fund we give away lots of money to help women pay for their abortions. You may not know it, but this is a major problem for hundreds of thousands of women every year. Last year we gave away $90,000.

You can’t make smart decisions about your sex life if you don’t have accurate information – we educate thousands through the Birds & Bees Project. People who normally don’t have access to sex education, people like women in prison and youth in alternative schools. But we couldn’t do this work alone, so we started the first and only program in the country that trains teachers and college students studying to become teachers on how to teach and talk about sexuality.

You can’t reduce the stigma of abortion if you don’t talk about it – we offer the first pro-choice, non-religious after-abortion support group in the nation. We believe it’s important for women to be able to discuss their abortion experiences openly to help combat the shame game society plays with women.

We believe sex is a normal part of life - we don’t talk about “the dangers” of sex. Instead we talk about how to be safe and make healthy choices because we trust people to do what's right for themselves.
