The US Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) is a program for young men and women ages 11-17 who are interested in developing their skills in leade
Cadets study a broad range of subjects. The USNSCC programs are designed to help Cadets become better adult citizens and teach them the importance of strong maritime forces. Along the way, they learn respect and responsibility. Cadets also study naval history, naval customs and traditions, seamanship, navigation, and similar subjects that will help their chances for promotion should they decide to join one of the sea services.
Sea Cadets are very involved in community service activities: 1) color and honor guard for civilian and military functions, 2) security for firework displays, ice fishing contests, air shows and other events, and 3) serve meals to veterans and senior citizens.
Cadets are challenged mentally and physically. We help them develop the tools they need to be successful. Poseidon Division conducts numerous trainings at Camp Ripley throughout the year. We train Cadets in marksmanship, land navigation, tank simulations, night operations, first aid, CPR, firefighting techniques…the list is endless. Cadets enjoy orientation flights in Blackhawk helicopters and Hercules C-130 transport planes.
Why does the USNSCC need your donation?
Costs for transportation, food, uniforms, equipment, and housing for training at this level can be prohibitive. Yet, Poseidon’s Officers, Cadets, and family members have contributed directly and take part in fundraisers. Please consider making a tax deductible donation...no amount is too large or too small. Poseidon Division is a registered 501© (3) non-profit corporation. Please send your donation to the address above or donate directly on line at our website: www.poseidondivison.org.
We manage all funds with great care—we are well aware of the value of hard-earned dollars. In fact, this is one tenet we strive to teach Cadets.
Why are these demonstrations and affiliations so important? Not only do they show the caliber of Cadets enrolled in the USNSCC program, but they are indicative of the investment value you have made. Today’s American youth will be tomorrow’s sailors, soldiers, and aviators. These Cadets will be the future defenders of our United States, and you will have had a hand in it. That’s a pretty good return.
