Our Purpose

Pillsbury United Communities (PUC) is a multiservice, social entrepreneurial organization that addresses social and economic challenges with creativity, innovation, partnerships, and a relentless drive for change. Founded in 1879 to address the absence of services in Minneapolis for the growing immigrant community, today PUC is a network of neighborhood centers, public charter schools, and social enterprises. Its rich Settlement House history provides a solid foundation for providing culturally relevant, community-based, human service programs. PUC is one of the largest settlement organizations in Minnesota, serving over 50,000 individuals each year.

Pillsbury United Communities' work is and always will be about people. People are the drivers of our efforts and the essence of our mission. Each person PUC encounters inspires us to do more. Our agency stands on the pillars of choice, change and connection--for the thousands that walk through our doors.

Our Work

Our greatest accomplishment is to serve 50,000 individuals each year through our neighborhood centers, public charter schools, or social enterprises. Whether it was a child discovering the power of her voice, a young adult embracing his role as a community leader, or a family seeking relief from a devastating tornado, participants make change happen by drawing on their courage, ingenuity, and innate strength.
