PROJECT HEALTHY SMILE INC

"Time to brush your teeth!" is a phrase most children hear often. Brushing their teeth is just a part of a daily routine. And owning a toothbrush and toothpaste are things they take for granted. However, thousands of children in impoverished regions have never seen a dentist and many do not even know what a toothbrush or toothpaste are.

PHS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that will provide oral health education and dental supplies to underprivileged children globally. Project Healthy Smile’s inspiration comes from the tremendous need for dental health education in many countries worldwide. While traveling through some of the most impoverished regions of the world, we have visited many orphanages and children’s organizations. We have found that basic dental needs are not being met. Generally, this stems from poverty and lack of dental health education. These are basic necessities that every child deserves.

The birth of Project Healthy Smile began with our first mission in Vietnam. We personally donated floss, toothbrushes, toothpaste and tongue scrapers to the children of Agape Children’s Home. In addition, we provided a lesson on proper dental care and oral health. We also explained the importance of compliance to the children’s caregivers who were thankful and supportive. We saw that even with limited resources we were able to make an enormous and positive impact on these beautiful children.

We've had such a successful year working with an organization in Haiti thanks to the help of many donors & supporters! Our goal for 2012 is to work with organizations in Uganda, Vietnam, Cambodia & Malaysia. We will provide oral health education and dental supplies to underprivileged & orphaned children. We will also spend time educating staff and caregivers so that children will stay compliant with oral health. With your help, we can continue to build sustainable programs.
