OTTER TAIL COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Otter Tail County Historical Society is one of the most active local history organizations in Minnesota. It presents a wide array of programs and services all designed to keep our local heritage alive.

The Society has over 100,000 objects and archival pieces in its collection. This irreplaceable resource introduces people to the history of the county's development and culture and serves as a teaching tool through hands on participation.

The Society has an outstanding educational outreach division. Tours, traveling kits, museum lessons and interactive activities are available to schools, clubs, service groups and long term care facilities.

A rich source of local history, the E.T. Barnard Library contains extensive genealogical and local historical resources. Over 1,000 people use the library each year for research purposes.

A trip to the museum's exhibit gallery reveals over 100 permanent and changing displays. Stunningly realistic dioramas, authentically furnished period rooms, and recreated sounds of 19th century agricultural life and a 1915 main street carry you back in time. Visitors are constantly amazed at the quality of the displays.
