The transformation of systems inherently requires education. A connection to organic farmers is needed for more farmers and eaters to choose organic.
Based on Gardens of Eagan Organic Vegetable Farm, the Organic Field School provides accessible, credible models, educating and linking, farmers and eaters.
Goals
• Educate the general public, educators and policy makers on the benefits and values of regional ecologically based, organic farming systems.
• Contribute to a substantial increase in regional, organic production by educating farmers through practical and experience-based education.
• Increase the organic market to support a substantial increase in regional, organic production and sales by cultivating a new group of consumers through education that teaches the “regional, organic difference”.
• Develop and maintain beneficial collaborations and partnerships between other organizations, institutions and individuals to evolve our vision.
• Conduct research that contributes to the advancement of organic systems and the advancement of organic farming political and legal positions.
• Empower citizen involvement in their food system.
• Develop strong public awareness of the social and environmental benefits of organic, regional and collaborative food systems and create support and rewards for those who provide them.
• Cultivate the stability and growth of producer owned, organic farm operations.
• Become a respected, will known, organic education resource for the Twin Cities.

A Field is an area of land used to cultivate crops, or to keep livestock. It is also a branch of knowledge and the area in which a sport is played. At the Organic Field School, the sport is farming, the knowledge is organic and the winners are healthy humans and a healthy environment.
