Nuevas Fronteras is a Spanish Immersion elementary school serving non-Spanish speaking families in South Washington County, MN (Dist. 833).
Please note that all donations made on Tuesday, November 17 are matched up to a total cap for the day of $500,000!
This is an amazing opportunity for us to raise as much money as possible in just one day. As most of you know, we have traditionally held a cash drive in the fall to help us reach our fundraising goal and what a great way to get us there!
If each NFSI family, relatives, and friends donated $25 on Tuesday, we would raise over $6,000 and if all of the donations were matched, we could potentially make $12,000 or more in one day!!!
Of course donating is obviously not a requirement. But we are asking each family to donate if they can. There is a minimum of $10.00 to donate through this website but what a great way to make $10 into $20 or $100 into $200 or $250 into $500!
Through the generous donations of our parent community during our last round of fundraising, we were able to secure six Language Ambassadors for the 2009-2010 school year. The LAs are from various Spanish speaking countries: Colombia, Costa Rica, Spain, and Guatemala. In addition to working in the classrooms, they will be developing creative ways to share their disparate cultures with our children.
Your donation, no matter how large or small, does make a difference!
About Nuevas Fronteras Spanish Immersion:
Founded in 2004, Nuevas Fronteras Spanish Immersion is a school program of choice that serves non-Spanish speaking families in South Washington County District 833.
We currently have three kindergarten, three first grade, three second grade, three third grade and two fourth grade and two fifth grade classrooms. Our current program population consists of about 350 students and 17 teachers. We share school facilities with Crestview Elementary School in Cottage Grove, Minnesota.
Our students come from cities of Woodbury, Cottage Grove, St. Paul Park and Newport, and we have become a viable partner in the continually-growing immersion education network of the Twin Cities.
Students in our program are immersed in Spanish as they learn in the curricular areas of reading, writing, math, science, social studies, art, and health. As with all programs in the South Washington County School district, our goal is to empower all our learners with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes for success. Our additional goal for our students is to communicate effectively in Spanish.
The fund-raising goals for immersion programs in the region vary, but like most immersion school parent organizations, we spend about 50% of the budget for Language Ambassadors (LAs).
