Northstar Problem Gambling Alliance is a nonprofit agency that focuses on awareness, education, prevention and advocacy for treatment of problem gambling in Minnesota. As the Minnesota affiliate to the National Council on Problem Gambling, we carry the message to Minnesotans throughout the state that problem gambling is an addictive condition that can be treated and recovery is possible. We raise funds to support educational outreach throughout the state, speaking to community groups and organizations about what is problem gambling and how someone can be helped. We train professional counselors, business professionals, corrections officials and more on the topic of problem gambling, and we advocate for treatment funding. It is estimated that over 120,000 people in MN are affected by problem gambling. The financial, emotional and social impact can be devistating.
