Let's buy a Genie lift for the new nimbus theatre!
Kate Hanson fundraising for NIMBUS THEATRE
Our friends at nimbus theatre finally have a home of their own! Building a theatre space from scratch takes a lot of work; will you help?
Erik and I have been working with nimbus theatre for ten years, and now even Ren gets to help out! So we are crazy excited that they finally have their own theatre space.
The new nimbus theatre at 1517 Central in NE Minneapolis was a huge, empty room just a couple months ago. With a lot of hard work, Liz, Josh and an army of volunteers have now turned a warehouse into a usable theatre space, complete with an office, dressing rooms, a scene shop, a 70-seat black box theatre with seating and a lighting grid, and a lobby. It's been absolutely amazing to watch the transformation. Miraculously, the new nimbus theatre will open its first show on February 11th, two months to the day after the "Epic Nimbus Blizzard Move of 2010".
But even after this first show opens, the new space will need a lot of work. There are big plans for installing bathrooms, more power (and more lighting!), and even a second floor for the office.
One of the things they're definitely going to need is a Genie lift, which is an essential tool for doing stage lighting. Given our experience in theatrical lighting, Erik and I would like to help nimbus out in this area. We'd really like to be able to raise the money for a lift in time for the next nimbus show, which opens at the end of April.
Lifts can be purchased used but in good condition for around $2,000. Much as we'd love to, Erik and I can't afford to just fork over two grand. But if all our friends and family come together, donating just 10 or 20 dollars each, I know we can do it. Please consider donating a small sum to help buy a Genie lift for nimbus!
(More good news: nimbus is a non-profit, so your donation will be tax deductible.)
Thanks so much for your donation!
