Miriam Seltzer Scholarship Fund (OLLI)
OLLI Minnesota fundraising for UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA FOUNDATION
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Seltzer Fund provides access to over 250 courses and activities per year to older learners.
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Minnesota is an army of volunteer instructors and dedicated administrators providing year-round academic opportunities and social activities to retirees and others who are simply inspired by the joy of learning.
Retired U of M professors and academic professionals from around the Twin Cities join other enthusiastic teachers willing to share their expertise to over 1200 Twin Cities older learners. Programs range from "Tuesdays with a Scholar" to "Five Physics Concepts that Changed the World," and take place in community centers, churches, synagogues and libraries throughout the metro area.
Run by a skeleton staff of three, OLLI is one of the premiere programs in the country bearing the Osher name. Our program relies on a volunteer board, instructors and committee members to provide a top-notch academic experience to learners who may have always wanted to study astronomy, or take a course on Shakespeare, or simply connect with others who share their interests and love of learning after a lifetime career.
OLLI is self -supporting and relies on membership fees to keep its office running. We never want to turn anyone away for an inability to pay the modest annual fee. We have kept our membership at $195 for the past 10 years for which members may take two courses per session over 4 sessions per year, and be involved in as many special interest groups and other activities as they like. There is no additional tuition.
OLLI changes lives, introducing new challenges and social interactions to people in retirement. Your donation today will help someone who may have never had an opportunity to complete a college degree interact with engaging instructors that inspire, educate, and entertain.
