MINNESOTA SHELTIE RESCUE
A US registered nonprofit
Since 2003, MNSR has found the best and last home for over 300 Shelties in need. MNSR is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) tax exempt nonprofit organization. We are run solely through the tireless dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of our donors.
We are an all-volunteer foster-based rescue organization, meaning that we do not have a central shelter where dogs are housed. Instead, all of the dogs in our program are housed within foster homes temporarily while they await their forever homes. All dogs in our program are fully vetted prior to being adopted. This includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and any other veterinary care they may require.
We work with animal shelters that have Shelties in need, allowing them to provide a spot for other waiting dogs. We also work directly with owners who are no longer able to keep their Shelties. Shelties are a shy breed and often do not present well in a shelter environment. Donations from the surrendering owner are encouraged if financially able, but not required.
If our numbers are high and our foster homes are full, dogs from impound or shelters facing a questionable future are given highest priority, while families looking to surrender their dog may be asked to keep the dog until we have room. We obtain appropriate legal relinquishment forms (shelter release, owner surrender) and we obtain as much information related to temperament and health history as possible. Owners must indicate whether the dog has ever bitten anyone and sign a statement saying the information provided is truthful. If we are able to identify the breeder, we will notify them.

Without Minnesota Sheltie Rescue, my vision and hearing impaired double merle Sheltie would never have been given a second chance at life. Winston and I are thankful for him every day and, as a family, we are forever grateful to this organization!
