The Minnesota Humanities Center: Helping Minnesotans create the future.

THE MINNESOTA HUMANITIES CENTER helps Minnesotans build community, tell untold stories, and deepen connections to place and to each other.

How do we do this?

  • We help educators better engage their students for increased academic achievement.
  • We bring communities together on issues that affect us all.
  • We leverage our strong, cross-sector partnerships for heightened impact across the state.

“The best part of these [school] visits was when students who had Ojibwe heritage began to realize that this was their history, which they had never seen or experienced except for in a home setting. The pride and enthusiasm of these students was certainly the highlight of the exhibit’s time at Becker County Historical Society for the staff.” Amy Degerstrom Director Becker County Historical Society, Detroit Lakes

"As a classroom teacher so much of what I have learned through Humanities Center programming has been embedded back into my curriculum. The materials from events have been passed through my faculty for dissemination. MHC is a strong center of support for teacher renewal, growth and development which has such direct impact on our students." ~ Kathy G. (program participant)

The MN Humanities Center is a wonderful organization that is working hard to be a leader in Minnesota, bringing people and views together for positive development and change. They do this through educators and bringing Absent Narratives into the classroom. They also develop strategic partnerships for innovative thinking and action to TRULY close the achievement gap, not just talk about it. I hope everyone will give to the MN Humanities Center because their efforts affect future generations and it is money well spent!
