The vision of the Minnesota Dental Foundation is to eliminate unmet oral health needs in Minnesota.

Since Dr. Robert M. Reed’s inaugural legacy more than a decade ago, the Minnesota Dental Foundation’s endowment has grown tenfold thanks to the generosity of thousands of dentists and other donors who support our mission to eliminate unmet oral health needs in Minnesota by:

Initiating and supporting outreach programs that provide dental services to underserved populations and communities;

Encouraging and supporting volunteerism within the profession;

Promoting careers in dentistry, especially in underserved areas.

Foundation funding requests come from organizations that provide dental services to adults and children throughout the state such as low-income families, the homeless, elderly, immigrants and people with disabilities. Requests also come from dental health education programs. Foundation funding recipients are selected on the basis of two primary criteria: demonstration of financial need and the at-risk population served. Foundation grants have made dental care possible for thousands of people in all parts of Minnesota.

Here is a sampling of the many organizations and programs the Foundation has supported with direct grants and in-kind services: Give Kids a Smile, Minnesota Mission of Mercy, West Side Community Health Services, Open Door Health Center and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

In just a few years, we have made remarkable progress toward the Foundation’s vision to eliminate unmet oral health needs in Minnesota. But there’s a great deal more to be done. In these challenging economic times, the need is greater than ever and annual requests for funding continue to increase.

Each first-time contribution, annual donation and estate plan gift strengthens the Foundation’s endowment and its ability to support deserving programs. Every gift counts and every gift is needed to help us sustain our profession’s leadership in giving.

We hope we can count on your new or continuing financial support.
