Education. Environment. Employment.
Minnesota Computers for Schools’ (MCFS) programming is aimed at: increasing technology access and related skills for Minnesota’s students; offering ‘green’ technology-based workforce development; and providing an invaluable resource for companies and organizations to recycle their replaced computer systems while supporting education in Minnesota.
In partnership with the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Stillwater, MCFS trains inmates to refurbish and upgrade computer hardware donated by businesses. Components that are not refurbished are recycled. The refurbished systems provide affordable technology solutions for Minnesota K-12 public, private and charter schools, nonprofit organizations serving disadvantaged youth and students with special needs. MCFS also offers digital literacy and technology workforce training to youth in schools and community settings. Programs include:
