Minnesota Business Venture (MBV)

BestPrep's Minnesota Business Venture is a week-long residential summer enrichment program that brings high school students and business professionals together from across the state to spend a week on a college campus and learn about business, financial literacy, and career information. Throughout this fun week, students work in small groups to develop a business plan and hear from great volunteer speakers from companies such as General Mills, 3M, Minnesota Wild, and Ecolab Inc. Guiding each group through the week is a volunteer business professional who mentors, facilitates and leads the students. During MBV, students and volunteers gain leadership, teamwork and presentation skills, while networking and meeting new friends. MBV also looks great on college applications or a resume. In 2011, 344 students participated in the program, 24% of which were from low-income backgrounds. To make the program possible, 164 volunteers were involved in various roles.
