Though the scope of its work is international, the Guthrie Theater is ultimately rooted in Minnesota and is proud to provide unique opportunities for hundreds of local artists each year. The Minnesota Artists Fund was created with generous support from The McKnight Foundation, whose goal is to give artists an outlet to do exemplary work, thereby enhancing the quality of life in our region.
"The artist drain is one of the city's biggest problems," said Ted Berger, executive director of New York Creates, in a 2010 interview about artists fleeing New York City. "You need a creative talent pool from which all industries can draw. When you've lost that, you're not keeping your competitive advantage."
The Minnesota Artists Fund will help ensure that Minnesota artists continue to find gainful employment at the Guthrie Theater. From professional actors, directors, composers and designers to all of the artists working in the shops that enliven the work onstage, it is vital that we recognize and sustain the abundance of creative talent in Minnesota.
Your gift will honor the talent, skill and boundless energy of the diverse array of artists who delight, challenge and inspire our community.
