Only two years old, Minnesota GreenStar® Certified New Homes and Remodeling is making a dramatic impact for homeowners by helping decrease energy consumption and improve environmental sustainability and occupant health.

Did you know a family of 4 could save over 8000 gallons of water a year simply by installing a high efficiency clothes washer? Save hundreds of dollars a year by upgrading their old and inefficient refrigerator? Test and decrease the level of radon, the second leading preventable cause of lung cancer, in their home?

How can they do this? By leveraging Minnesota GreenStar®’s free online encyclopedia of green strategies and construction techniques. (www.mngreenstar.org )Whether just looking to replace the flooring in a family room to renovating a kitchen to building a new home, MN GreenStar can be a helpful tool to guide credible and holistic green improvements.

    I support Minnesota GreenStar because this is the first residential certification program that is focused on green and energy efficiency standards for not only new construction, but for remodeling too along with being tailored to our Minnesota climate. The Board of Directors and members of this organization have a true committment and passion for truly building green.
