Local farmers and urban neighborhoods joining together to create a great community-supported farmers market in South Minneapolis!
Conceived by neighborhood volunteers in 2002, the Midtown Farmers Market will begin its 10th season as a thriving and vibrant community-supported farmers market in the heart of Minneapolis, assuring equitable access to healthy, locally-produced food and helping to provide for the long-term viability of our foodshed.
Right on the light rail stop at Lake Street, Midtown connects community residents with nearby rural food producers in a bustling outdoor setting where neighbors meet and shop for local foods six months out of the year.
Rain or shine, the community gathers here to celebrate the ever-changing local bounty with fresh fruits and vegetables, artisan crafts, ready-to-eat food, and live music from local businesses and family farms: everything you see at the market is sold to you direct from Minnesota and Wisconsin farmers, producers, and artists!
Truly accessible to all, Midtown was the first farmers market in Minnesota to take EBT (food stamps), serving as a model for other markets in the state. Food stamp use at the Midtown Farmers Market has doubled in each of the past two years, getting more local healthy food to families who need it most.
Each year over 60,000 people visit the Market. And because everything sold at the market is grown or produced in Minnesota or Wisconsin, the Market benefits local farmers, reinvesting in the local economy.
Vendor fees cover just 50% of the costs of running the Midtown Farmers Market. That's why we rely on the community to provide the rest!
When you support the Midtown Farmers Market, you're supporting local farmers, sustainable agriculture, and healthy communities--you're helping to create the kind of community we all want to live in.
