MENTAL HEALTH COLLECTIVE
A US registered nonprofit
The Mental Health Collective (MHC) was established in 1999 to provide affordable, respectful and meaningful mental health services to clients who, for a variety of reasons, may not have access to services.
We work with general mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief and loss, self-care, self-esteem and stress management.
In addition to working with general mental health issues, we also help clients with issues around anger, addictions and impulse control; work conflicts; career planning; parenting and healthy development; relationships; conflict resolution; sexuality and sexual orientation; identity; and spiritual connection.
Our Vision Is:
• To improve the emotional health and well-being of our diverse community.
Our Mission Is:
• To solve problems through community partnerships.
• To provide affordable, accessible, and culturally sensitive mental health services.
• To locate services in community locations including public schools and neighborhood centers.
• To mentor mental health professionals and others in community outreach and collaboration.
As a Statement of Values, We Believe That:
• Healthy relationships affirm life, improve health and build community.
• Each person’s abilities, sense of self, cultural context, and life experiences are important.
• Community mental health services should address issues affecting the health of the community.
• Individuals benefit by seeing a larger purpose outside of themselves.
• Community involvement has reciprocal benefit: individuals benefit from improved community health and improve their own learning, healing and growth.

As chair of the Board of Directors, it has been my pleasure to serve the Mental Health Collective for seven years. They are doing wonderful work, particularly in bringing mental health services to children in need in the Minneapolis school district.
