Marie's Simpson Housing Run

Can you imagine worrying about where you're going to sleep tonight? Or where you'll get your next meal? I can't and don't want anyone else to, either.

I'm running a 5K with my sister, Renee, to help end homelessness by participating in the Simpson Housing Run, a fundraising campaign. We'll be participating in a race in White Bear Lake on June 18. Neither one of us have been in a race but will train and run on behalf of the families who must overcome major obstacles just to make it through a day. Will you sponsor me? I want to raise $250 toward the $25,000 Simpson Housing Run goal.

Simpson Housing Services is a wonderful organization that provides overnight shelter, meals, short-term housing and support to single adults and families. It's mission is to "house, support and advocate for people experiencing homelessness." To learn more, go to their Web site at www.simpsonhousing.org.

Late in 2009, Minneapolis-based Simpson Housing Services, was awarded the Minnesota Nonprofit Award for Excellence in a Large Organization by the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits. I'm proud to support them. The photo below is of volunteers making a meal for homeless men at Simpson's mens shelter.
