Mission

The MacLaurin Institute fosters a Christian intellectual presence at the heart of the academic enterprise in the University of Minnesota.

Programs

1. MacLaurin Campus Lectures (featuring leading Christian scholars): Up to 20 lectures/year, with 1884 in atendance during 2006-2007.
2. Faculty Development for U of MN Christian faculty and graduate students. This comprised 12 events in 2006-2007, with total attendance of 154.
3. Conferences (based on Christian scholarship): In September 2006, the Institute sponsored a conference on Christianity and the environment, which attracted 120 participants, and then in mid-February the Institute conducted a very successful Symposium on Civic Engagement and Moral Education (in cooperation with various U of MN offices) that drew a packed house of 250.
4. Student mentoring. The Institute helps to mentor and advise Christian students involved in a broad range of disciplines through our Mars Hill Students group, which in 2006-2007, had total attendace of well over 100.
5. Christian Academic Resources (our website and 2200-volume Christian studies library are increasingly utlized by students and the public,and Institute staff also lecture in the community.
6. Christian Studies Courses are also offered, and in 2006-2007 36 students benefited.
