In June 2013, Life House is featuring the story of Deante:

“Without Life House, I would be homeless. I would not know where to go or what to do.”

As a young man, Deante describes himself as determined, humble, and motivated to get what he wants out of life. However, while young he also found himself in bad situations with gangs and violence. He knew he needed a fresh start in order to achieve his dreams.

That’s when Deante found Life House.

Deante heard about Life House from a friend who told him, “Life House is awesome. You will get things done if you go there.” Soon, Deante connected with Life House staff for help with safe housing, school, work, and health goals.

Today, Deante has two jobs and is close to renting his own apartment. He continues to meet with Life House staff weekly, and is working hard on achieving his dream of joining the military.

“Life House is wonderful. They showed me the way to the path I’m on today. Anyone looking for help, please come to Life House!”

At Life House, around 35-50 teens each day like Deante walk through our doors. Some have suffered through histories of abuse, neglect, or abandonment.

What makes them all the same is they need a helping hand - a door of opportunity to a world where they can be safe, healthy, and have a real future. Simply put…
